La Salette

La Salette

Our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of La Salette, appeared to two children (Maximin & Melanie) on the top of a mountain in the Alps of southeastern France, near the hamlet of La Salette on September 19, 1846. She invited them saying, “Come to me, my children. Do not be afraid. I am here to tell something of the greatest importance”.

The first of the series of apparitions which include those of Lourdes and Fatima, her message was an invitation to live the message of her Son, Jesus. Her message was concluded with the words: “Well, my children, make this known to all my people.” Mary’s apparition at La Salette is a modern day reminder of an ancient truth; that Mary constantly intercedes for us before God; that she is the Reconciler of Sinners, calling us back to the message and way of her Son, Jesus.

O Mary, Mother of Reconciliation, in this time of celebration we rejoice that:

The Father asked you to carry out his plan of Salvation,

The Son chose you to be his Mother and his First Disciple,

The Holy Spirit fashioned you into his living temple, our sister in faith.

At La Salette, with abundant tears of mercy, you spoke the two poor children in their own language and urged us to share your message of peace and hope with needy people of every culture and nation. Pray for us to your loving Son that we may draw all your people closer to him. Amen.

  • Memorare to our lady of salette

REMEMBER OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE...true Mother of Sorrows, the tears you shed for us on Calvary. Remember also the care you have taken to keep us faithful to Christ, your son. Having done so much for your children, you will not now abandon us. Comforted by this consoling thought, we come to you pleading, despite our infidelities and ingratitude. VIRGIN OF not reject our prayers but intercede for us, obtain for us, the grace to love Jesus above all else. May we console you by living a holy life and so come to share the eternal life Christ gained by his Cross. Amen.
Our Lady of La Salette….. Reconciler of sinners, pray without ceasing for us who have recourse to you….
